Teaching Methods for skiing and snowboarding
To learn something new or to improve your skiing or snowboarding
skills first we will accurately assess your skills, abilities, strengths
and weaknesses. This is not just how you ski or snowboard but also
factors such as your motivation, lifestyle, time available and physical
abilities. During the process we will discuss your objectives and
clarify your goals. One very important part is that those goals must be
attainable and you must be able to visualize yourself skiing or
snowboarding at that level. I believe in setting you up for
success.
With realistic goals defined we can then formulate an effective plan
using your learning style that will help you to snowboard or ski the way
you wish. This may include unorthodox movements or diverse
equipment such as snowblades. It is important that I tailor lessons to fit you
learning pace and terrain comfort zone so that learning something new is
easy for you. We learn new movements best on comfortable terrain
then step it up to more challenging terrain when you are ready. I am
frequently told that I am very patient by my more conservative guests. I take that as a great compliment.
Observation of your skiing or snowboarding movements by a trained eye
is necessary to helping you understand why things happen and how to
apply other techniques. We can video tape your skiing and
snowboarding so that you can see what you are doing and we can look for
ways to become better.
